Kumu Hula Tracie & Dr. Keawe Lopes

Ka Halau

Ka La Onohi Mai O Haehae opened its doors with the blessings of both Kumu Hula OBrian Eselu and Kimo Alama Keaulana on August 6, 2005 and sits under the instruction of a husband and wife team, Tracie and Dr. Keawe Lopes. Together as educators of the Hawaiian Language and practitioners of mele, they offer their students a learining environment, rich with history upholding a legacy of beauty preserved in the mele hula and the mele oli of old.

 The halau has been active since its opening, gracing a number of highly revered stages and participating in hula competitions including Hula Oni E, Ia Oe E Ka La, and The King Kamehameha Day Hula Competition. The halau is located in Kalihi on Rose Street and offer hula classes for ages 5 and above.
